Union Min Smriti Irani inaugurates Pedicon 2022 at India Expo Mart, unveils roadmap to fight pediatric diseases

March 21, Greater Noida: Union Minister of Women & Child development Smriti Irani on Sunday inaugurated 59th Annual Conference of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics ‘Pedicon 2022’ at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida.

The theme of the conference is “Genes to Teens: Mission and Dreams”. The 3-day conference will focus on pertinent issues of child health and will provide a platform of benchmark standards for academicians, scholars, public health experts, research fraternity, policy makers, program managers, delegates and all stakeholders to exchange their ideas, share their knowledge and expertise and develop a strategic approach for a brighter future beyond the pandemic.

In her address, Irani spoke about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Flagship scheme Poshan Abhiyan and outlined how measures being adopted under the scheme are helping fight issues of malnutrition among children.

“Elaborate numbers are available for the IAP to measure, validate & reach a conclusion as to whether we can better our services to help the children who are severely malnourished,” Irani said.

She also expressed gratitude to Dr Mahesh Sharma, MP, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Dr Puneet Gupta, cancer super specialist (Author of Applied Spiritual Biology) for their efforts towards aiding the ministry in its fight to eradicate different pediatric diseases from the country.

During the conference inauguration, Irani launched ‘105 Guidelines for Parents for Common Pediatric Illness’ and announced that the manual will now become a training module for workers around the country.

“The manual for caregivers will now become a training module for all angan wadis in the country, for all caregivers in child care institutions,” she announced.

The Minister also expressed gratitude on behalf of the parents of India to the Indian Academy of Pediatrics for providing their services during the pandemic.

She also appealed to all the doctors to ensure that all children eligible for the vaccine are fully vaccinated so that every child can walk around without a mask one day.
