UP Higher Education Minister Inaugurates Bharat Shiksha Expo, Paving India’s Path as Global Education Leader

Greater Noida, November 11, 2024: Marking a new chapter in India’s journey as a global leader in education, the inaugural Bharat Shiksha Expo 2024 was inaugurated today in Greater Noida by Yogendra Upadhayay, Minister of Higher Education, Uttar Pradesh. Hailed as a “pilgrimage for students, scholars, and education professionals,” the event brought together prominent figures, including Dhirendra Pal Singh, Education Advisor to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh; Prerna Singh, Additional CEO of Greater Noida Authority; Sipu Giri, Special Secretary, Higher Education, Uttar Pradesh; Shri Rohit Gupta, Project Director at Atal Innovation Mission, Niti Aayog, and Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman of India Exposition Mart Ltd.
A Vision for India as Vishwaguru
In his keynote address, Yogendra Upadhayay emphasized the significance of Bharat Shiksha Expo 2024, likening Greater Noida to the ancient learning centers of Nalanda and Takshashila. Supported by the Uttar Pradesh Department of Higher Education and the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), the three-day event (November 11-13) is set to become a transformative platform, showcasing India’s role as a “Vishwaguru” or global education leader. The Minister highlighted the event’s alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) goals, underscoring its commitment to holistic and multidisciplinary learning.
Unveiling the Higher Education Incentive Policy 2024
The Minister also introduced the Higher Education Incentive Policy 2024, heralding a new era of innovation and inclusivity in Indian education. Designed to attract private investment, the policy aims to create a supportive ecosystem for educational growth, providing numerous incentives to stimulate both public and private sector contributions. “Private investment in education is crucial,” said Upadhayay. “The policy is a bold step towards expanding and diversifying our educational framework, supporting institutions, and nurturing a generation that will drive India’s educational renaissance.”
A Gathering of National and International Luminaries
The Bharat Shiksha Expo 2024 brings together esteemed Chancellors, Vice Chancellors, educational leaders, and industry experts from both national and international institutions. Participating universities include Galgotias University, Sharda University, GL Bajaj Institute of Management and Research, Gautam Buddh University, GLA University, SRM University, Central University of Rajasthan, and international representation from North Island College, Canada.
Empowering Students and Institutions
In her address, Prerna Singh, Additional CEO of Greater Noida Authority, encouraged students to explore diverse educational and career opportunities at the expo. “This is a unique chance to step beyond traditional education and discover new paths in professional courses. This maiden Bharat Shiksha Expo has already set high standards, offering students an experience like no other,” she remarked.
Dhirendra Pal Singh, Education Advisor to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and former Chairman of the UGC, emphasized Uttar Pradesh’s rapid transformation into an educational hub. “Today, we witness a progressive Uttar Pradesh, rapidly establishing itself as a ‘Youthful State,’ ready to lead in education. International interest in our education sector is growing, and we have our dynamic Chief Minister’s vision to thank for it,” he noted.

Sipu Giri, Special Secretary of Higher Education, presented an overview of the new Higher Education Incentive Policy 2024, while Rohit Gupta, Project Director at Atal Innovation Mission, shared insights on Atal Tinkering Labs, initiatives designed to foster critical thinking and innovation among students.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman of India Exposition Mart Ltd., framed the expo as a transformative event preparing India’s youth for cutting-edge fields. “As our Prime Minister has emphasized, this platform aims to cultivate job creators, not just job seekers,” he asserted. “Bharat Shiksha Expo 2024 empowers young minds, cultivating creativity, entrepreneurship, and leadership for a brighter future.”
