California (United States), 18th May 2023: The US District Court of California has authorised the Indian government extradition request for the 26/11 accused Tahawwur Rana.

He was arrested in the United States over an extradition request put forward by the Indian government for his concerning role in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Rana is a Canadian based Pakistani businessman who is accused of participating in the planning and execution of the Lakshar-e-Taiba terrorist attacks in collaboration with his childhood friend David Coleman Headley, or Daood Gilani.

India has accused Rana on the charges of conspiracy to wage war, commit murder and commit forgery for cheating purposes and to commit a terrorist act.

‘Based on such review and consideration and for the reasons discussed herein, the Court makes the findings set forth below and certifies to the Secretary of State of the United States the extraditability of Rana on the charged offenses that are the subject of the Request,’ ruled Judge Jacqueline Choojian in a 48-page court order.
