Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017: Some 188 candidates are choice of both Akhilesh-Shivpal
Lucknow, December 30: It seems that the rift between Yadav pariwar in Uttar Pradesh has been going murkier as on Thursday the state chief minister Akhilesh Yadav released a parallel list of his own 235 candidates for the UP Assembly Elections which is scheduled in 2017, moments after Mulayam Singh Yadav released the official list of 325 candidates. Denying tickets to Akhilesh Yadav’s loyalist.
But for Samajwadi party supporters it would be a great relief, as some 188 candidates selected by Mulayam Singh are reportedly choice of both Akhilesh and his uncle Shivpal Yadav.
The two list’s declared by Samajwadi party’s top leadership has now become the biggest challenge for Mulayam Singh who has also ruled out projecting Akhilesh as the party’s chief ministerial candidate. With the current decision the soft standing loyalty with Akhilesh will be in question.
Almost 24 hours after Akhilesh-Mulayam released two separate lists, it is certain that the 188 candidates contesting for 2017 Uttar Pradesh Elections are the choice of both Akhilesh and his uncle Shivpal Yadav.
According to Dainik Jagran sources, it would be difficult for these 188 candidates to contest the election, other than party’s election symbol.
Prominent Akhilesh’s loyalists who were denied tickets are ministers Arvind Singh Gope, Pawan Pandey, and Ram Govind Chaudhary. There are chances that these loyalists may contest elections on different symbols as independent candidates.
On Wednesday night, Mulayam, along with his brother and state party chief Shivpal Yadav, had declared candidates for 325 of the 403 assembly seats in UP.
On Thursday night, upset over being kept out of the selection process, Akhilesh met his supporters at his 5-Kalidas Marg residence. In which the meeting was attended by state legislators, office bearers who did not figure in the party’s official list.
Later in the day, Akhilesh also spoke to Mulayam Singh to convey his displeasure over the list of candidates from which the names of his loyalists were missing.
