New Delhi, (18/4/2019): Today, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) President, Alok Kumar reached Election Commission to raise complaint against former CM of J&K Omar Abdullah and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti for violating Model Code of Conduct in their speeches for Lok Sabha Elections.

He requested from the EC to initiate action under the Model Code of Conduct against the above mentioned leaders for threatening the sovereignty, integrity and social harmony of the country for their electoral gains.

Briefing about the complaint, VHP President, Alok Kumar said, “Recently we have noticed certain speeches of Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti in Jammu and Kashmir in which they are openly challenging the merger of the state of J&K in India and making seditious speeches against the integrity of India. We oppose these actions and urge the EC to take appropriate actions under the violation of Code of Conduct against these types of leaders who are spreading hatred amongst the people of J&K for their own country”.

This action of VHP came after Omar Abdullah, while doing a rally in Bandipora district of Kashmir on 1st April said, “J&K will have to re negotiate accession to India if Article 370 is abrogated. We will have our own Prime Minister as it will be the situation after accession. Other states have merged unconditionally but we have kept our conditions to keep our identity, our own constitution and our own flag. At that time we had also kept our own PM which they removed, we will also get that back”.

On the other hand PDP Leader and former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti on the same day said, “Lets see if you have to keep J&K with India, you have to do it on our conditions. This is Muslim majority state, if it tempered, then they should forget Jammu Kashmir”.

In another instance Mehbooba Mufti while addressing a rally on 8 April in Sri Nagar said, “As far as Article 370 is concerned l, i have been saying again and again that 370 connects J&K to the country. When you abrogate it, India’s occupation of J&K becomes illegal. It will become occupational force. If you free J&K from article 370, you will free it from the country”.
