Vivo to establishm new manufacturing units, aims for 10 lakh unit export in 2023

New Delhi (India), 14th April 2023: According to Yogendra Sriramula, the company’s India brand strategy head, Vivo, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, would invest 1,100 crore in a new 169-acre manufacturing facility in Greater Noida this year. Yogendra Sriramula anticipates that the facility will be operational by 2024.

The investment is a portion of the company’s $7,500 crore commitment, which will be utilised to quadruple its manufacturing capacity from its current manufacturing units, which have been added over the last four to five years, to 120 million units annually.

Srirumala said, “As part of this investment, by the beginning of the next year, we should be able to start phase one of our new manufacturing facility in Greater Noida. It spreads across 169 acres.”

In Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, Vivo now has a manufacturing facility with an annual production capacity of about 60 million phones. The facility has almost 10,000 workers. At the factory, Vivo also produces phones for its sister company’s iQOO.

Sirurmala also talked about reasonably priced 5G smartphones, the Head of Brand Strategy informed that Vivo is aware that the release of 5G phones will have its own set of teething problems.

He said, “The solutions need to be seamless; otherwise, the phone might get heated up too soon, and the battery might die. You might have the technology, but one might not be able to use it.”
