Himachal Pradesh, Nov 12, 2022: Voting concluded for 68 assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh at 5pm, with BJP eyeing a 2nd term and Congress hoping to make a comeback.
Himachal Pradesh recorded 65.92% voter turnout until 5 pm. The highest turnout was recorded in Sirmaur with 72.35% followed by 68.48% in Solan and 67.67% in Una. 58.9 per cent turnout was recorded in Mandi, the home district of Chief Minister Jairam Thakur.
51 out of 52 voters voted in the world’s highest polling station booth in Tashigang, the world’s highest polling station recorded 98.08% voter turnout as 51 out of 52 voters voted.
Meanwhile, massive turnout of women in Dhanderwadi, the remotest village of Shimla, was recorded.
Bharatiya Janata Party is eyeing a 2nd term in the state after it won 44 out of 68 seats in 2017.
For the Congress, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra held rallies in Himachal Pradesh in hopes of a second term. Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress’s first non-Gandhi chief in 24 years, campaigned too.
The results of the election will be out on December 8.
