Greater Noida, Sept 13th, 2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the world’s largest dairy conference organized at the India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida, the World Dairy Summit 2022.

Led by the International Dairy Federation(IDF), WDS is a three-day event that aims to provide a platform for Indian and global dairy processors, manufacturers, and farmers to share ideas and new technologies in the dairy sector.

Esteemed guests like Union Home Minister Amit Shah, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Parshuttom Rupala, Member of Lok Sabha Sanjeev Balyan, and the President of International Dairy Federation, Piercristiano Brazzale were also in attendance.

Amit Shah in his speech highlighted the importance of the dairy summit being held after almost 50 years.
“Looking at India’s dairy sector now, I can proudly say that we stand as an independent (atmanirbhar) nation before the rest of the world”, he said.

He further added that it is only due to the efforts of the farmers in our country that India has become the leading producer of milk in the world.

Speaking about the world economy, Shah said that India has taken the 5th position from the 11th in a span of only four years. “I can assure you that in the next two years, we will become the 3rd largest economy of the world and the cooperative institutions of the dairy sector will have highly contributed to the same, especially the women workforce”, he remarked.

“More than 1500 delegates and 300 foreign delegates will witness India’s wide network of cooperative institutions during these three days”, Shah said.

The Home Minister further said that the Indian government is forming and implementing policies to promote the uses and production of indigenous products such as animal feces and to deliver organic products as well.

Shah noted that almost 70% of the retail prices are passed on to the farmers as compared to the 40-45% in the world.

Speaking about Indian dairy giant, Amul, whose annual turnover has reached about 60,000 crores, Shah said that Amul will soon set up an export house to produce organic products as well.

Shah announced that the government will set up 2 lakh more dairies at the village level in the country before the 2024 elections which will help to curb domestic demand rise and to supply products to less-developed nations.

Lastly, Shah expressed joy over the world dairy summit being organized after 48 years and the growth of the Indian dairy sector through the years.
