Wettest May for Rajasthan in 100 years, rainfall breaks all records

Jaipur, 02nd June 2023: Rajasthan has received 62.4 mm of rainfall in May this time, recording the highest for the month in the last 100 years.

The authorities at the Indian Meteorological Department confirmed that the average rainfall recorded by the state in the month of May usually ranges from 13.6 mm. Still, the rain incurred us much more due to the numerous western disturbances.

The western disturbances are the systems that originate in the Mediterranean region and bring unseasonal rainfall to northwest India. The last Rajasthan recorded such high amounts of rain was back in 1917, with over 71.9 mm of rainfall.

The weather department has further predicted thunderstorms and rainfall in Bikaner, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions and added that the rainfall is expected to increase further on Saturday and Sunday.

This pattern is expected till June 5-6, after which the temperatures are expected to rise further.
