World Dance Day Celebration at Mewar Nalini and Kamalini create history at Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: The two world-renowned Kathak Dancer Sisters Nalini and Kamalini cast a spell on the audience at the Nrityam-2014 event at the Mewar Group of Institutions auditorium, Vasundhara, on Tuesday. The two hour programme turned out to be an enchanting experience.

Mahadev Stuti initiated an unprecedented presentation of art and aesthetics. Then followed a hypnotic sequence of such dance forms as Man ka Mitwa, duet dance, Jhaptal, Brij ki Hori and others. The auditorium was submerged in the fragrance of flowers – nightqueen, jasmine roses, mogra ets. The rhythm created by anklets, violin, drumbeats and melody was truly mesmerizing. It proved to be an unforgettable event in the annals of the Institute.
Chief guest Dr. P. Kumar, Director East India Udyog Ltd. eulogized the divine art of dance which rejuvenates the body and soul. It also revitalizes our links with the hoary heritage of tradition and culture.
Chairman of the Mewar Group of Institutions, Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya expressed his anguish at the mindless imitation of foreign trends at the cost of our own glorious arts, skills and traditions. He reaffirmed the Mewar’s ceaseless endeavour in this regard. The programme opened with an invocation to Goddess Saraswati by Dr. Gadiya, Director Dr. Alka Agarwal and Chairman of AAAFT. Sandeep Marwaha. Guru Jitendra Maharaj, accompanists Akbar, Afzal, Zahoor Ahmad, Nalini Nigam, Dancers Sonia Gupta and Jyoti Singh were felicitated with shawls and mementos. The programme anchored by Parmeet Kaur, concluded with thanksgiving by Director Dr. Alka Agarwal.
