World Radiology Day Celebrated with Academic Zeal at Institute of Paramedical Sciences, GIMS Greater Noida

GREATER NOIDA News (13/11/2025): The Institute of Paramedical Sciences, GIMS, Greater Noida marked World Radiology Day with great enthusiasm and scholarly spirit, celebrating the vital contribution of radiology to modern healthcare and medical education. The event featured a series of academic sessions, cultural performances, and competitions designed to deepen students’ understanding of the field and its ethical dimensions.
The celebration commenced with a Lamp Lighting Ceremony, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment. This was followed by the welcome of the Guest Speaker, Dr. Dolly A. Sharma, Professor and Head, Department of Radiology, by Dr. Saurabh Srivastav (CMS) and Dr. Manisha Singh, Principal, Institute of Paramedical Sciences.
Delivering the Welcome Address, Dr. Jaya Bharti, Vice-Principal, warmly greeted the guests, faculty, and students, emphasizing the importance of such events in fostering academic curiosity and professional growth. In his address, Dr. Saurabh Srivastav (CMS) highlighted the indispensable role of radiology professionals in accurate diagnosis and evidence-based treatment.
Adding historical context, Himanshu Mishra presented a talk titled “Insight into Radiology Day”, tracing the origins of the celebration and its global significance in honoring Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen’s discovery of X-rays.
A major highlight of the program was the guest lecture by Dr. Dolly A. Sharma on the topic “Radiology Beyond Diagnosis.” Dr. Sharma spoke about the expanding scope of radiology — from diagnostic imaging to interventional radiology, research, and patient-centered innovations. She encouraged students to explore the latest advancements in imaging technologies while upholding safety and ethical standards.

The event also featured vibrant student activities. A Nukkad Natak (street play) creatively depicted the importance of radiation safety and responsible radiological practices, while a Debate Competition on the topic “Radiation: A Necessary Evil?” engaged participants in a thought-provoking discussion on the balance between medical benefits and radiation risks.
The program concluded with a felicitation ceremony honoring the winners of the Debate, Quiz, and Poster competitions. Manvee Rai, Assistant Professor, delivered the Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all students, faculty members, and organizers whose contributions made the event a resounding success.
All faculty and students of the Institute of Paramedical Sciences, GIMS, actively participated in the celebration, which showcased their commitment to advancing medical imaging education and promoting the safe and ethical use of radiological technologies for improved healthcare outcomes. The event not only celebrated the legacy of radiology but also reinforced the institution’s vision of nurturing future healthcare professionals equipped with both scientific knowledge and social responsibility.
