Hosted by Anchor, Shailly Agarwal and streamed on the Ten News India Youtube Channel , Dr. Gokhale engages in his journey and struggles of becoming a doctor, his experiences, his success and failure, and above all, the need to be kind and helpful.

Taking a look at the ten most important teachings by the extremely talented and humbled founder of Gokhale Hospital

1.) “Something even more important than becoming a surgeon is the time when you have to operate on your patients. In that moment when the patient is under anesthesia, the monitor is beeping and the scalpel is in your hands, all that you wish for is to take away the patients pain”.

2.) “When you are a medical professional, you don’t get a lot of time for yourself but as they say, it is important to stop and smell the roses. Even a cup of tea in the morning with your friends before going to work can be very relaxing”.

3.) “Always think of helping your patient as a human being, not like repairing a machine. Your foremost thought should be to find a way to treat him without an operation, to do it naturally”.

4.) “The purpose of my books was to make people aware of curing yourself at home so that you would never have to enter the operation theatre”.

5.) “We are all taught how to operate on people but I wanted to help people prevent operations and treat themselves at home so that they wouldn’t have to go through that pain. No one focuses on preventing operations”.

6.) “Looking at the smiles on their(patients’) faces is much more important than some fancy and expensive knee surgery. This is why I never refuse to help those who are in need but cannot afford the surgery”.

7.) “Response and cooperation from patients is as important as the hard work of the doctors because at the end of the day, all that we wish for is for them to be okay”.

8.) “Success and failure is a part of everyone’s life, even doctors. Which is I advise all doctors to think twice before operating on someone because their lives would be in your hands”.

9.) “The mental health of doctors should be given as much importance as physical health because often they feel disheartened when operations do not go well but you should always remember to walk ahead with a hopeful and helpful heart”.

10.) “As long as we all can, we should help everyone around us. Be kind, you will never regret it”.

Dr. Gokhale encourages all to find balance in life, to always work hard, and to never stop being helpful to others.
