Kany Club’s ‘Teej’ event evokes overwhelming response

Founders and Directors of Kany Club, Anuradha Khanna and Madhu Goel hosted a grand ‘Teej Mahotsav’ event at the La Cordiall Banquet, Cross River Mall, Karkardooma on 22nd July’2017. The key highlights of the event included a vivacious celebration of different Teej customs and rituals, Teej Queen Contest, Lucky Draws, Tambola, scintillating Dance and musical performances, scrumptious cuisines, appetizers & beverages, return gifts, an ingeniously conceptualized ‘Teej Special Shopping Street’, an Expert Artist for designing ‘Teej Special Mehndi’, an exciting ‘Kala Chashma’ theme, and a ‘Selfie’ corner.

Sharing more details of their event, Anuradha Khanna said, “The Teej Mahotsav event was completely fun frolic, and the guests had a rollicking time. Organized and hosted by Kany Club on 22nd July’ 2017, the Chief Guest of the event was H.E. Alexander Kanyi Galley LOGOSU- TEKO (Minister Plenipotentiary Charge d’ Affairs a.i), The Republic of Togo. Neha Verma from Faridabad won the ‘Teej Queen Contest’, while Mansi Sharma was adjudged the ‘Teej Queen First Runner up’ followed by Barkha Bansal winning the title of ‘Teej Queen Second Runner up’. Shalini Aggarwal won the ‘Dimple Queen’ title, and Barkha Bansal from Ghaziabad won the ‘Mrs Attitude’ title. Ritu Babbar won both the ‘Bappi Da Ki Fan’ as well as ‘Make up Factory’ title. Sonipat based Meenakshi Gupta won the ‘Best Smile’ title, while Reema Garg won the ‘Party Ki Jaan’ title. The judges panel for the ‘Teej Queen Contest’ comprised Sudha Bhardwaj, Sunita Vakil, Edna Rose and Neha Gupta. Notable among the distinguished personalities who graced the event were educationist Dayanand Vats (National Media Network), Astrologer Dinesh Bhardwaj, senior media personalities Sushil and Sunita Vakil and Rj Manish Azad from FM Rainbow 102.6. Anchor Sahil Sahni struck a vibrant chord with his witty one liners, and had the audience on their toes during most part of the event.”

Sharing the significance of Teej celebrations, eminent educationist Dayanand Vats elucidated, “Hartalika Teej is celebrated primarily by girls and women by dancing, singing coupled with other prayer rituals to hail and welcome the monsoon season. The monsoon festivals of Teej are dedicated to Goddess Parvati and her union with Lord Shiva. Teej refers to the monsoon festivals, observed particularly in western and northern states of India and Nepal.”

Social crusader Sudha Bhardwaj added, “With various rituals and customs, the festival of Teej is celebrated to venerate the arrival of clouds, rain and nature’s greenery. For women, the Teej festival is all about making merry by dancing, singing and bonding with friends while dressed up in their resplendent best with henna-coloured hands and feet. The festivals are dedicated, in many parts of India and Nepal, to Goddess Parvati.”
