Shashi and SL Kapur, chairman of Yes Bank Foundation hosted a grand Dinner for retired bureaucrats and doctors at the India International Centre, New Delhi on 1st Feb’2018. The highlight of the event was a brilliant talk on Holistic Health by Global Pioneer of Holistic Medicine, Wg Cdr (Retd.) Dr R.K Tuli (MBBS MD PhD).

Notable among those who graced the event were Pioneering cardiologist of the country and the Armed Forces Dr (Col.) PK Khanna (V.S.M), Dr (Mrs) Khanna, Kamal Singh (Executive Director- United Nations Global Compact Network India), Ashok Kapoor (Retd I.A.S), BP Singh, Rajni Panwar (Editor-Namaskar Dunia) and Sunil Dang (CEO and Editor in Chief- The Day After) to name a few.

Explaining the significance of Holistic Medicine and Medicare to the august gathering, Dr Tuli elucidated, “It’s the Era of Holistic MediCare. Days of exclusive dependence on Allopathic Medicine are over! All Wise people think, talk and wish to adopt “Holistic Medicare” for their Health!! Holistic Medicine is the wholesome approach to Health where each individual is treated as a whole ‘Body, Mind & Spirit’ by a synergy of the evidence based ‘science’ of modern medicine with the highly complementary and reproducible time honoured ‘art’ of drug-free modalities of all the officially recognised traditional systems of health for Elimination of All Sickness and promote Positive Health and Total Wellness. Keeping in mind the inherent deficiencies and limitations of Allopathic Medicine, the World Health Organisation (W.H.O.) recommends, and our National Health Policy also promulgates optimum integration of all the recognised systems of health comprising the allopathic Modern Medicine with alternate AYUSH systems of health. But, no two drug based systems can be prescribed to the same patients because of unknown hazards of drug interactions. There is an urgent need for healthcare services in the country to grow beyond inherent limitations of the so called evidence based modern technology. An ever increasing number of people wish to explore benefits of time honoured traditional, or alternate systems of health which are natural, drug-free, harmless, highly reproducible, having helped the humanity and survived over thousands of years. The good news is that we, now, have very rich expertise available to us that complements the best of drug-based specialities of allopathic medicine with various non-conflicting drug-free and harmless modalities of officially recognised systems of health to ‘Eliminate all Sickness’ from its root cause and restore Positive Health & Total Wellness ‘Body, Mind & Spirit.’ This latest speciality of medicine is termed “Holistic Medicine”. It’s a Board certified specialty in the U.S. for nearly two decades, and is catching up very fast amongst the developed nations. Therefore, it’s high time that we adopt it into our health care and make our living years happy and productive. The universal efficacy of Holistic Medicare in eradicating sickness and restoring health is based upon tapping the very life-force, which Hippocrates – the Father of Modern Medicine described, “The natural healing force within each of us is the greatest factor in getting well. Having benefited the top echelons, I feel it’s my duty and responsibility to take this incredible ‘model’ to the masses beyond all frontiers.”

The stimulating health talk by Dr Tuli was followed by an equally absorbing question answer session from the audience all of whom expressed optimism about the potential and scope of holistic medicine as well as drugless therapy.

Lauding the achievements of Dr Tuli, Dr (Col.) PK Khanna (V.S.M) said, “My student Dr Tuli makes me feel proud as he has dedicated a lifetime towards promoting the concept of “Holistic Wellness”. In his entire illustrious career, he has inspired countless of people who have sought his expert medical advice. He has not only cured them, but also provided them with a new dimension to lead life, ‘the healthy way’. He has played a significant role in spreading the message of Positive Health, Prevention, Early Detection of the ailment or disease, and Total Wellness.”

Dr Tuli was invited to establish the world’s first-ever Department of Holistic Medicine at the state-of-the-art multispecialty tertiary care Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi in the year 1996, where he served till 2010. Following his stint at Apollo, he founded Society of Holistic Advancement of Medicine (SOHAM).
