Kejriwal Government should file a review petition and request the Hon’ble Supreme Court to allow plying of all diesel commercial vehicles registered in Delhi till their bank instalments are scheduled

New Delhi, 30th April. Delhi BJP President Shri Satish Upadhyay has condemned the Kejriwal government for failing to rightfully present the case of diesel commercial passenger vehicle owners before Supreme Court which has on Friday upheld its earlier decision of banning the plying of around one lakh diesel taxis most of them SUVs in Delhi NCR.

This ban on one hand is going to cause hardship to lakhs of youth working in MNCs who travel in them through NCR and tourists who use them while on the other hand has brought a suicidal position in the lives of around 1 lakh families of vehicle owners & drivers who stand to loose employment after this ban.

The Hon’ble Supreme Court has already banned registration of diesel vehicles in Delhi NCR. The owners of these vehicles with heavy bank loan instalments on their head cannot even resell their vehicles in Delhi and hence they are bound to suffer heavy losses selling vehicles outside the NCR area to meet bank loan repayments.

Though the Hon’ble Supreme Court decision came in a PIL matter on pollution control yet the thousands of commercial vehicle owners expected the Kejriwal Government to request the Hon’ble Supreme Court to allow them to ply till their instalments are paid.

Way back in late 1990’s & early in 2000’s the then Delhi Government on humanitarian grounds had requested the Hon’ble Supreme Court for relief to Blue Line Bus Operators while changing total bus system from diesel to CNG and the Court had considered the pleas.

Unfortunately Kejriwal government did nothing to persuade the Hon’ble Court and due to its pathetic attitude thousands of vehicle are today on verge of bankruptcy and tomorrow Delhi NCR will face acute shortage of vehicles.

Delhi BJP has urged the Kejriwal Government to file a review petition and request the Hon’ble Supreme Court to allow plying of all diesel commercial vehicles registered in Delhi till their bankinstalments are scheduled. Under this scheme people including both vehicle owners and travellers will get relief. Moreover the government should also inform the Supreme Court that such quantum of overnight replacement of vehicles too is not feasible.
