18 #Gurgaon residents sent to judicial custody

Eighteen persons were sent to judicial custody for protesting against a debris-clearance drive by district authorities here on Saturday.

The residents of Sector 47 had protested against the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) which was clearing the debris of the April 12 demolition drive in Fatehpur-Jharsa village in the same Sector, Gurgaon Police Commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk said.

A police team accompanying HUDA officials resorted to lathicharge and tear gas to disperse the crowd, and arrested 19 persons including Ward 30 councillor Nisha Singh, he said.
