Mumbai, 05th July 2023: The two NCP factions are all set to hold critical meetings in Mumbai today to show that the majority of the party’s legislators support them. This follows the ongoing political drama in the state; since Ajit Pawar revolted and joined the Maharashtra administration last week, the party has been in firefighting gear.
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), chaired by Sharad Pawar, has issued a whip to all of its legislators, requesting that they attend an important meeting at Nariman Point in Mumbai at 1 p.m. today. Jitendra Awhad, named the party’s top whip on Sunday, issued the whip. In a video, the NCP’s working president urged party leaders and workers to attend the meeting in big numbers and seek guidance from Sharad Pawar on the way forward.
The party’s faction led by the rival group led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, on the other hand, will host a separate gathering to demonstrate that they have the support of the majority of the party’s MLAs.
Posters soliciting support for Sharad Pawar or Ajit Pawar have appeared throughout Mumbai. People were encouraged to come out and support the “83-year-old warrior fighting alone” on banners outside Sharad Pawar’s home, even though the Ajit Pawar camp has used the NCP patriarch Sharad Pawar’s photo to rally for support.
