Rewari(Har), Aug 29 (PTI) In a freak mishap, two alleged robbers were killed and another seriously injured when the taxi they had robbed at gun-point crashed into a tree as they were trying to outrun the police during a chase.

Praveen Saini, Rahul Yadav and Sonu Rajpal had booked Jitender Kumar’s taxi from Rewari district for Dahina last night, police said.

Later, as the car covered some distance, the three men allegedly took out their arms and robbed the taxi driver, police said.

They also pushed the driver, Kumar, out of the vehicle on Rewari-Kanina road near Buroli village, about 15 km from Rewari, and then sped away with the looted car, they said.

However, Kumar somehow managed to inform the police. A police team from Dahina post gave a chase to the robbers.

In an attempt to escape, the driver of the taxi lost control over the vehicle and it collided with a roadside tree, killing Praveen Saini and Rahul Yadav on the spot, police said.

Sonu, who was seriously injured in the accident was admitted to PGIMS Rohtak, police said, adding a case has been registered.
