A 21-year-old woman, who was stabbed about six-seven times by a stalker, died on Thursday morning here, police said.
The aspiring air hostess, Riya Gautam, 21, was stabbed in a bylane barely 100 meters from her house in Ramnagar area of east Delhi around 5.30 p.m. on Wednesday.  “The accused Adil, 22, who was known to the victim, is absconding,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Nupur Sharma said.
A police officer privy to the investigation said that the accused is also a resident east Delhi and they’re trying hard to track him down.
Victim’s Father, Girwan Singh, told Ten News that the accused stalked his daughter and they had complained to the police three months back. “Around 5 p.m. on Wednesday Riya had gone out to buy something from a near by bakery. But she never came back,” he sobs.
The incident took place when Riya was coming back to her house. The attacker stabbed her from behind several time. “As we saw the attack we came to help the didi and as we were running towards her, the attacker ran past us in the opposite direction,” said a 12-year-old. “He had a fat knife and his hands were red with blood.”
Riya died while undergoing treatment at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in the early hours of Thursday. Singh said: “As we didn’t hear from him for three months we thought that he won’t disturb our daughter anymore.”
Singh added that police told them after the attack that Adil went to Gujarat after they filed the complaint three months back.  “Police should find him fast and he should get death sentence,” the 50-year-old said.
