27TH CONVOCATION CEREMONY CONDUCTED AT @BIMTECH GREATER NOIDA

Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), Greater Noida held its 27th Convocation ceremony for its 2013-15 batch of management students at the greater noida campus. on April 4, 2015. Mr. Rupinder Singh Sodhi, Managing Director, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, Ltd, (AMUL)   was the chief guest of the occasion. During the event, the students, faculty and staff also paid  a tribute to the founder of the institution, the recently deceased, Late Dr (Smt) Sarala Birla, under whose guidance the institute has flourished.

Setting the mood for the evening, Mr. Askaran K. Agarwala, Member, Board of Governors, BIMTECH, remarked, “Fuelled by the scholastic abilities of its students and the total dedication of its faculty, BIMTECH has been making steady progress over the years. In its 27 years of existence, about 5380 of its alumni have been contributing to the progress of corporates, both in the private and public sector, as well as non – governmental organizations, in India and abroad.“

The chief guest for the day , Mr Rupinder Singh Sodhi, is Managing Director, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, Ltd, (AMUL). Mr. R S Sodhi is a man with a mission. His mission: the transformation of ‘Amul’ from a trusted Indian brand to a preferred Global brand. He has been instrumental in taking ‘Amul’ brand to dizzying heights that it has scaled today.

Speaking the occasion Mr. Sodhi advised the young graduates to assess the true features of the country’s economy in order to take correct business decisions. He spoke about his college days and studies, and recalled the words of Dr Verghese Kurien, father of the white revolution, who said that it was the duty of the privileged elite to contribute their skills for the benefit of others and emphasized on integrity as an important quality in any person, which acted as a catalyst for the chief guest to join Amul.

During the convocation Diplomas were awarded to students from all the four programs courses of BIMTECH which are, PGDM, PGDM-International Business, PGDM-Insurance Business , and PGDM in Retail Management. As many as 403 students graduated during the ceremony.

The student achievers who  took home gold medals at the annual convocation were: Jigyasa  Gautam, Mahima Kapoor , Dibyanshu Tripathi ,Devanshi Pathak , Ritika Jain, Aggyapal Singh and Shruti Singh.

While presenting the progress report BIMTECH’s director Dr. H. Chaturvedi focused on the stress being accorded to academic excellence and in strengthening the faculty and research scholars.  He also extended his  good wishes to over 403 BIMTECH students from the 2015 passing out batch who have successfully completed their management education.  He said, “From now onwards you will be part of our global alumni community and we shall take great pride in your future achievements, big and small.”

Around 750 students, academicians, and invited guests participated in the convocation. The vote of thanks was proposed by the Deputy Director, Dr. Anupam Varma. Others on the dais were Dr. A Sahay, Dean (Research) and Dr. K C Arora, Registrar. A dazzling display of fireworks was a fitting end to an event signalling the transition from one phase of life to the next. After the convocation ceremony, a press conference was held with the media people and the college media committee, in which the Mr. Rupinder Singh was kind enough to answer various questions asked.
