60 Ft tall, 300,000 LED Display – Bringing Eiffel tower from France to Noida

Noida, UP: It’s back and so are they. Durgostav celebrations, starting from 29th September till 3rd of October,  of Balaka – the Bengali association of Sector 61, Noida is going to be exciting and different at the same time.

The star attraction is going to be a 60 Ft tall replica of Eiffel Tower created with more than 300,000 LED bulbs. A first for NCR, this display is a tribute to the Chandan Nagar light engineers who have played a major role in making Kolkata Pujas what they are today. With the venue being the Sector 61 Community Center, adjacent to the Sai Baba Mandir, this masterpiece will be visible to everyone crossing Sai Baba Mandir and even people coming from Noida Extension.

Sushma Shrestha aka Poornima, Singer of blockbuster hits like Kya hua tera vaada, Yaadon ki Baarat, Chane ke khet mei, Tut tut tu and countless other hits will spearhead the foot tapping musical experience on Ashtami  aptly supported by Sahajiya a modern Folk based Band from Kolkata on Saptami

It is very difficult to create a mix of Culture, celebrations and social message all at the same time, says Navneet & Indra Chowdhury , the cultural secretaries of Balaka. But every year, repeatedly, we have managed to do that. This year it was more difficult since all days are official working days hence all our programs had to be pushed back to start not before  8.30 in the evening except maybe on 2nd when it could start earlier so as to encourage everyone to participate.

Paran Bandopadhyay, a renowned dramatist will perform on Sasthi and the celebrations will aptly culminate with the first ever Woman Dhaki team performing under the guidance of the legendary Dhak player Gokul Das. Dhak an auspicious instrument traditionally played by men and Women, the reflection of Ma Durga on earth provide the ideal finale to bid adieu to the season, says Anuj Chakraborty, the general secretary of Balaka. What better way to reflect our support and respect for all women, he says.

Inspite of all the big known names, our strengths have always been our internal programs, retorts Subhas Dutta, the current President of Balaka. Where in the entire NCR do you see a troupe of more than 60 children performing a theme based dance program of which more than 80% are non Bengalis. We have 2 such programs every year something that even the oldest or the biggest puja associations have not managed to do so. We are among the top pujas today, proud of what we have achieved in the short span of  6 years.

Balaka, the Bengali association of Sector 61, Noida is a 6 year young initiative. Formed to replicate “back home” atmosphere and simultaneously promote and maintain the rich culture of Bengal and our country they have been organizing Durgostav on a fairly large scale for the last 5 years. Started with a team of 6 people, today they are more than 75 members strong. Catering to the socio cultural needs of sector 61, 52 and 53,  Balaka  is supported by most of the PSU’s and  some large corporate apart from individual contributions from members and well wishers. We are definitely disappointed by the lack of support from the real estate segment but we are hopeful they will see the need and the value to associate with us soon, adds Anuj.

Their yearly calendar includes a picnic , some music and dinner on  Rabindra Jayanti and Poila Boishak apart from the celebrations on Durga Puja, Kali Puja and Saraswati Puja every year just like “Back Home”.
