Auto and Taxi unions calls for one-day strike on Sept 2
New Delhi, Aug 31 (PTI) Auto and Taxi unions in the National Capital today threatened to go on a one-day strike on September 2 against the newly-introduced ‘City Taxi’ scheme by the Delhi government under which small cars will be allowed to ply on the city’s roads.
Delhi Auto Rickshaw Sangh and Delhi Pradesh Taxi Union said that the new scheme will “snatch” the livelihood of the drivers of auto rickshaws and taxis.
Both the associations claimed to have received the support of Anna Hazare’s organisation – ‘Bhrashtachar Virodhi Jan Andolan Nyas’ – for their strike.
