ITS Engineering College organized a workshop on “Engineering Teaching-Next Few Years”
Faculties of Mechanical Engineering Department of ITS Engineering College organized a workshop on “Engineering Teaching-Next Few Years” Speaker invited was Dr. S.C. Bhaduri,
Ex-Faculty at IIT Roorkee and IIT, Mumbai and now Head, Product Development, Tecumseh India.
He was welcomed and brief appraisal of Dr. S.C. Bhaduri was read by Prof Mohd. Kamal Asif Khan and Dr. Shailesh Chauhan of Mechanical department of ITS Engineering College and a bouquet of flowers was presented by HOD Dr. Sanjay Yadav.
Dr. Bhaduri, a very simple, practical person initiated the talk on the subject. It was attended by respective heads and faculty members from all the departments. The workshop was focused on enlightening of issues related to problems faced by students and teachers in the engineering colleges and the dwindling number of graduates from the engineering stream.
He furnished some practical examples of him and citing the mode of interaction between students and teacher for learning process. He said that the engineers have somewhere lost their value and this has resulted in distracting the students from engineering stream. This has also resulted in the decline of employability of the students graduating as engineers.
He emphasized that to improve the scenario, the faculty must concentrate on delivering his knowledge for learning purpose, focus more on increasing his market values by visiting industries so that his knowledge can be updated. He also said that syllabus should be revised according to the need of the industry and at the same time mode of teaching should be to improve practical skills of the students.
Finally he concluded that all the students should be brought to the same level of performance in final year. He said that employer do not have time and money to train the engineers and hence needs trained graduates for their organization. Undergraduate projects should train the student as practicing engineer. Project should be complete package of conception, design, synthesis of components, testing and ready to place in the market. If these things are done, then only we can think of improving the situation of teaching in engineering and for this, the next few years are very critical indeed.
It was very prestigious for ITS Engineering College Participants to have such a Dignified and very Humble, Unassuming, Knowledgeable Gentleman and to grasp his views and visions. The lecture closed with handing of Token of Appreciation and Vote of Thanks.
