#Mehbooba unwilling to take oath – President”s rule imposed in #JAMMU AND #KASHMIR

The Governor’s rule was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, official sources said.

They said that Governor NN Vohra using his special powers issued a notification in this regard.

This followed the reluctance of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti to take over as the Chief Minister till the mourning period for her father, the former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, is over.

Governor NN Vohra had written letters to the PDP and the BJP, seeking their position on government formation, but no reply came.

Due to the delay in response from the two parties, Governor’s rule was imposed as a constitutionally unprecedented situation emerged because the most probable candidate for chief ministership, Mehbooba, is unwilling to take oath before the mourning period for her father ends. The mourning period for her father will be over on Sunday, the fourth day, which is the traditional period of mourning among Muslims.
