Youth held for ‘raping’ 12-year-old in Loni

GHAZIABAD: A 25-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a minor living in his locality. The alleged crime occurred in Mandola village of Loni on Sunday evening, when the 12-year-old girl had stepped out of her house to buy grocery.According to police, the accused, Sachin, was caught in a compromising position with the girl by her mother and grandmother. “When the girl did not return from the provision store, her family members began a frantic search for her.

They were told by locals that she was last seen with Sachin, following which they went to his house. Sachin fled from his house by scaling the boundary wall when he was caught by the girl’s family, but he was arrested on Monday,” said SHO of Tronica City police station Sheelesh Yadav.Police said Sachin had been living alone in the house for the past nearly two months after his wife went to visit her parents’ home.The girl’s father, a mason, lodged a complaint with Tronica City police station on Sunday evening based upon which Ghaziabad police registered an FIR. Police have charged Sachin under section 376 (rape) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 in the FIR.A medical examination was also conducted upon the minor girl in Ghaziabad on Monday for which reports are awaited..
