DPCC SC/ST DEPARTMENT OBSERVES DR BHEEM RAO AMBEDKAR’S 125TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION.

NEW DELHI, Feb 27—Thousands of people from the Dalit and other communities attended a function to mark the 125th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Dada Saheb Dr Bheem Rao Ambedkar, held under the aegis of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee SC/ST Department and organized by the Patparganj District Congress Committee SC/ST Department, at the Valmiki Mandir premises in Trilokpuri, East Delhi, today. The function was presided over by chairman of DPCC SC/ST Department Shri Shivram Singh, under the convenorship of Smt. Beena Balguher.

The function held at the Patparganj District was one of the many functions being held in all the districts of Delhi to observe the 125th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Dr Bheem Rao Ambedkar. Prominent among those who attended the function were former Union Minister Kum. Selja, DPCC SC/ST Department chairman Shivram Singh, ex-MLAs Amrish Gautam, Malaram Gangwal, Veer Singh Dhingan, Rajesh Lilothia, District president Laxman Rawat, Municipal Councillors Rajiv Verma, Gurmeet Kaur, Anjana Parcha and Rinku, Anirudh Lal, Rajesh Chouhan, Ram Kishan Mavi and programme convenor Smt. Beena Balguher.

Addressing the gathering, former Union Minister Kum.Selja said Dr Bheem Rao Ambedkar had achieved such a hallowed heights in the world that even his parents had not visualized that he would reach such a position, to set a glorious example for not only the Dalit community, but Indians as a whole. She said the ideas and ideals set by Dr Ambedkar would be remembered and cherished for generations to come, as they were universally relevant, and would remain relevant for ever.

Kum. Selja said the core values propagated by Dr Ambedkar for the Dalit community for their upliftment—education, unity and struggle—have helped the community come out in the mainstream and make their mark in every field. She said it should be the responsibility of every parent to strive and help their children live upto Dr Ambedkar’s ideals for the progress of the Dalit community.

She said the towering and charismatic personality of Dr Ambedkar not only influenced the Dalit community, but also others, as Dr Ambedkar rose to great heights due to his own efforts and unparalleled competence, which was a guiding light for others to follow and emulate.
