Bricks-laden trolley overturns, teenager among three killed

Ghaziabad: Three people including a minor, travelling on top of a trolley loaded with bricks, were killed when the vehicle overturned on a dirt road near Morta village on Tuesday.

Police said the accident happened around 7.30am. There were eight people, all daily wage labourers, travelling on top of the loaded trolley towards a brick kiln when the vehicle lost its balance and overturned.

Five workers suffered injuries when they fell off the trolley and the bricks fell on them. Locals took them to a nearby hospital, but three labourers succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, the cops said.
The deceased have been identified as Santosh Devi (20), Shivani (15) and Chhotelal (29). Their bodies have been sent for autopsy. The two other labourers — Harichand and Sushil — had sustained minor injuries and were discharged from the hospital after treatment, said police.
“The tractor trolley has been seized by police but the driver managed to flee after the accident. We are trying to nab him,” said Subodh Saxena, SHO of Muradnagar police station. An FIR has been registered against the unidentified driver under Section 304A (causing death due to negligence) at the Muradnagar police station.
