3 held under cow protection law for smuggling #beef

Gurgaon: Three youths were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly smuggling beef to Delhi via Gurgaon. Police said they seized around 250 kg beef from them.”It is a non-bailable offence. The accused were arrested and booked under sections 3/13(1), 8/13(3), 17 of the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan Evam Samvardhan Act.

They were sent to judicial custody on Tuesday,” ACP Hawa Singh said, adding the cars used by the accused could be stolen and had fake number plates.Police had set up a check post on the Sohna-Gurgaon Road in Ghamroj village on Monday after they received a tip-off that a few men would try to smuggle beef to the capital via Gurgaon.The accused, police said, travelled in two cars — a Santro and a Corolla — which were also seized. Police said while the trio used the Santro as a pilot vehicle to monitor police presence on their way, they stored beef in the Corolla.The youths, identified as Riyaz (22), Habib (25) and Irsad (19), are from Mewat. While Riyaz kept a check on police deployment on their way and pass on the information over mobile phone, Habib and Irsad carried the beef in the Corolla, police said..
