Zip, zap, zoom: Female racers set the track on fire in #Gurgaon

For Gurgaonwallahs, the ideal weekend is one spent indulging in car and bike racing. Aiming to conquer a rough track, drivers stepped on the gas and vroomed past spectators the moment the stopwatch began at this Gurgaon event recently. Apart from car racing, the event, Speed Sprint, was also about sumptuous food, lively music and loads of masti.

Motorsport enthusiasts from NCR participated in the fest, where the participants took turns, and whoever completed the distance in the shortest time was declared the winner. The race took place on a four-kilometer stretch of tarmac. The competition was held in three categories – Zip, Zap and Zoom. The first category was for amateur drivers, the second was for experienced drivers and the third, for bikers. Each group was further categorized based on the vehicle’s engine capacity.

‘Something for everyone’:

 Sourav Ray, a Gurgaon resident, said, “We are delighted that a motor fest like this was held in the city. It was a fun-filled evening for the whole family as there was something for everyone. The children enjoyed the Quad bike drives as well as playing paintball with their friends. I was very keen to participate in motor racing and it turned out to be a fantastic experience.”
Encouraging sports:
 Colonel (retd) Tejbir Singh, who was from the organizing team, said, “We always try to encourage sporting activities. The fest was organized to give the Gurgaon residents an opportunity to indulge in motor sports. We are happy people came out in large numbers to participate.” A music band also entertained everyone on the occasion.
