Earthen dams in Aravalis to recharge groundwater
The forest department has decided to construct earthen dams in the foothills of the Aravalis to help recharge groundwater in the city that has dropped sharply over the years. Two such dams have already been created in Manesar and Ghamroj village, and six more are in the offing. Officials said constructing earthen dams in the foothills of the Aravalis (also called bhud) is a particularly effective method of conservation since the quality of soil here allows for easy percolation of water.
