Kanwar yatra: #Ghaziabad schools, colleges shut

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad administration on Monday declared a seven-day holiday for all educational institutes located along NH-58 for the ongoing kanwar yatra. Schools, colleges, and management and engineering institutes along the highway will remain closed till August 1. It’s the first time such an order has been issued in UP for kanwar yatra. “The order is applicable to all types of educational institutes,” district magistrate Nidhi Kesarwani told TOI. “The purpose behind issuing the closure order is to ensure there is no traffic movement along NH-58 during the kanwar festival. Educational institutes have been asked to strictly adhere to the order,” she added.

The DM has also asked all its officials to remain on their assigned duties within the district till August 1 while the power department has been asked to ensure 24×7 electricity supply. tnn
