Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram organized the Annual Inter-School Commerce Festival – ‘ComAstitva’, a joint collaboration of the departments of Business Studies, Accounts and Economics on 19th of November 2016.

ComAstitva is an endeavour to expose students to the working economic environment of business, commerce and industry and to provide them with the finest of educational experience. A multitude of innovative and creative competitions were planned to help the students of Classes XI and XII to learn, explore and reach beyond their expectations and to emerge as “winners”.

The Chief Guest for the day was Dr. Anju Srivastava, the Principal of Hindu College. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest along with the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, the Vice Principals, Dr. Renu Nayar and Ms. Padma Srinivasan; and the Head mistress, Mrs. Rashmi Malhotra. Also present were the Head of Departments, Mrs. Anu Bhandari from Business Studies, Mrs. Anita Singhal from Economics and Mrs. Reena Mehta from the Accountancy Department along with their team of teachers.

There was a classical orchestral performance by the students. The Principal welcomed the guest with a beautiful card and a bouquet as a token of appreciation. There was a Ganesh Vandana and a melodious performance by the school choir. This was followed by an enthralling performance by the dance group of the school showcasing the fusion of English and Hindi Culture. Addressing the participants, the Principal, Ms.Vanita Sehgal stressed on the importance of enjoying the competition in the true spirit of sportsmanship. The Chief Guest gave her best wishes to the participants and highlighted the importance of commitment in life.

Students from 15 schools took part in the competitive events, which were divided into onsite and offsite categories. The onsite events were- ‘The Curtain Call,’ ‘The Young Entrepreneur’ and ‘The Eco Biz-Quiz.’ The Online events were–‘Brand-Logue,’ ‘Ecopix’ and ‘Logo Mania.’ In ‘Brand-Logue’, the participants were asked to design an E-catalogue of a designated company. In the ‘EcoPix’, they were given a picture and had to write about it. In ‘LogoMania’ they designed a logo of a company. In the On-site category, for ‘The Curtain Call’, they performed a skit on a given topic. For ‘The Young Entrepreneur’, each of the teams was given a business enterprise and they were asked to showcase a presentation about how they will drive and propel their business in the future and what steps would be taken by them. For Eco-Biz Quiz, there were two rounds, in the first round there was a written test and top six teams qualified for the finals.

‘Brand-Logue’ was won by DPS Vasant Kunj, the second position was bagged by The Mother’s International School and DPS Gurgaon held the third position. The first position in ‘Logo Mania’ was secured by Modern School, Barakhamba Road; Gyan Bharti School and DPS Mathura Road came second and third respectively. DPS Gurgaon won ‘EcoPix’, Modern School, Vasant Vihar held the second position and Blue Bells International School came third. In ‘The Curtain Call’, DPS Gurgaon , Blue Bells International School and DPS Vasant Kunj came first, second, and third respectively. Modern School, Barakhamba Road bagged the first position in the ‘Eco-Biz Quiz’ followed by DPS Dwarka, the third position was won by DPS Gurgaon. The first, second, and third positions in ‘The Young Entrepreneur’ were secured by DPS Vasant Kunj, G.D. Goenka School , Vasant Kunj, and Modern School, Barakhambha Road respectively. The overall winner was Modern School, Barakhamba Road.

The event was full of fun and a great learning experience.
