National Capital shifts to Varanasi as Union ministers flood city
TEN NEWS NETWORK
Varanasi : A battery of Union ministers is camping in the city giving an impression that a significant part of the govt has virtually moved to the city.
PM Modi himself will spend the next three days in his constituency to give a final push to the party’s campaign. Saturday is set to witness a clash of titans in the temple town as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, BSP supremo Mayawati and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will be in Varanasi for campaigning in the last phase.
This is probably for the first time that any place in the state would have such near-simultaneous high-profile VVIP presence. Security has been beefed up in the city and officials of the elite Special Protection Group (SPG) which guards Modi and Gandhi are camping here to ensure that the entire route where these VVIPs will move is sanitised and protected.
