New Delhi : (15/05/2017) : Indian Railway is shying from making a direct hike in rail-ticket prices but instead is brainstorming over different innovative ways to increase its revenue. Department has now forwarded recommendations to charge INR 25 to INR 50 more for passengers opting for lower births during their reservations.
It has been observed that demand of lower births is very high in all the different classes where passengers make reservations. Railway now plans to take benefit of this privilege choice of seat by making extra money through it.
It is being seen as an innovative way to increase its revenue.
Together with it Indian Railway has also proposed to install 19,000 CCTV camera’s at 983 stations across India. Government of India will allot 500 Crore rupees from Nirbhaya fund for the same.
Tenders for the same will be floated soon.
