EVM tampering allegations are totally false : Election Commission

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday demonstrated the working of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail System (VVPATs), and concluded that,  EVM can’t be tampered at all .

Stating that EVM tampering is a false allegation, BP Mishra, a technical officer of Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), demonstrated as how the EVM and VVPAT work.

A day ago, the Election Commission told a parliamentary panel that the EVMs are tamper-proof and the use of paper trail will further enhance the confidence of the voters in the poll process.

At an all-party meeting on May 12, Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi had said a challenge was on the cards for political parties to prove that EVMs used in the recent assembly polls were tampered with.
