Amravati: Four infants die as fire breaks out in incubator due to short circuit

Mumbai, May 29: In a shocking incident hinting at medical negligence, four newborn babies died reportedly after a short circuit sparked a blaze in incubator at a hospital. The incident took place on Sunday night at Panjabrao Deshmukh Hospital. According to initial reports, four infants were severely burned after fire broke out in incubator due to short circuit. Parents of the deceased children alleged medical negligence in this case, demanding FIR against the hospital.

Four infants admitted at Panjabrao Deshmukh Hospital in Amravati were kept under an incubator. Incubator is an enclosed apparatus in which premature or unusually small babies are placed and which provides a controlled and protective environment for their care. According to the families, the kids were kept in incubator, which caught fire at around 10:30. A side of the bodies of all four infants was severely burned.
