Reliance JioFiber home broadband service could be launched around Diwali. According to reports, the tariff that Jio is planning may disrupt the home broadband market in India. The Economic Times reported that JioFiber, the home broadband service will start in Diwali and Reliance could offer upto 100GB of data at a price of just Rs 500. The report quoted people who were familiar with the Jio offers that will be unveiled later this year. Meanwhile, this is not the only report which suggests Reliance JioFiber’s 2017 launch.

According to several reports, the broadband service is expected to get unveiled in June this year. This month, Reliance Jio had tweeted saying the JioFiber Preview Offer is currently being offered on a trial basis in a few cities. Reliance Jio wrote on its Twitter handle: “The JioFiber Preview Offer has currently being launched in select areas of Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat and Vadodara. Our network is in the process of being rolled out to other cities.” Jio is said to offer a minimum of 100Mbps for the home broadband consumers, and the plans will likely be priced at affordable rates.

Following a deep impact in the telecom market, it seems that the home broadband market (fibre-to-the-home (FTTH)) should get ready to face aggressive competition from Reliance Jio. While the exact launch date for JioFiber remains unknown, the news does not come as a surprise, as the company’s website has been featuring a mention of the Jio broadband and DTH services for a while now.

In comparison, rival telecom companies like Airtel currently is offering its users, 1000GB data free for one year if they sign up for the broadband service via online. However, the free data offer is limited only to the NCR region.

Under the Airtel offer, there are 4 plans (Rs 1099, Rs 1299, Rs 1499, Rs 1799) which can get you 1000GB of bonus data for 1 year. Meanwhile, the lowest plans of Rs 899 can get the users, 750 GB of data for a year. Under the plan, users could get 60 GB broadband data for Rs 899. Under the Rs 1,099 plan, you get 90 GB data.
