Union Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan Inaugurates World Environment Day celebrations in Delhi

Celebrations for World Environment Day 2017 have started from Paryavaran Bhawan Delhi.

After the lamp lightening ceremony a group of students recited a song titled “Prakrati Vandana” on importance of nature.

The theme of World Environment Day 2017 is “Connecting People to Nature”.

A Mobile App on diversified species in protected areas made by Zoological Survey of I India was also launched during the ceremony.

Dr. Harshvardhan also gave prize for Environmental Ambassadors for the year 2017.

He also said that amount of prize money for National Environment Ambassadors should be increased and we will look into it.

A street play on the theme of environmental awareness was also presented during the event, which was hugely appreciated by audience in attendance.

During his address on the occasion of World Environment Day, Dr. Harshvardhan said, “This ministry should not remain a wing that just regulates but we have to move forward to making all 125 crores citizens of this country as our partners. Environment concerns are becoming more and more serious with every passing day and it is really very necessary to create awareness at mass scale to get some result”.

 

The ceremony concluded with reiterating the motto of the Environment Ministry and reminding everyone about the same -“Nature protects if it is protected”.
