India ratifies two more core ILO conventions at Geneva; pledge complete eradication of Child Labour

NEW DELHI : In the latest session of International Labour Organisation, Indian Labour and Employment Minster, Bandaru Dattatreya handed instrument of ratification for two more core conventions (no. 138 & 182) to Director General ILO, Guy Ryder. The 106th session of ILO took place in Geneva.

Both of the conventions are regarding prevention and prohibition of child employment. Number 138 states the minimum age for the employment and 182 has classified the worst forms of child labour.

With the ratification of these core convention India has ratified six out of eight core conventions of ILO. This has also brought convention 138 to cover eighty percent of the world’s total population and 99 percent under the cover of convention number 182.
