Cong betrayed nation on Gujarat snoopgaten Aam Aadmi Party

The Aam Aadmi Party demands that the Congress party should apologise for having betrayed the nation by entering into a deal with the BJP and burying the probe into the illegal snooping of a young woman by the Narendra Modi government of Gujarat in 2009.

The union home ministry’s reported views that among other things, the decision to set-up a commission of inquiry to probe the illegal snooping, including that in Gujarat, has been left to the new cabinet, has confirmed the consistent apprehension of the AAP that the Congress was not at all sincere in probing such a serious issue.

It is shocking that the entire Congress leadership has maintained a mysterious silence and is unwilling to make the reasons public behind its u-turn of not implementing the December 26, 2013 decision of the union cabinet to set-up a commission of inquiry to probe the illegal snooping carried out by the orders of Modi’s closest aide, Amit Shah, who was then the minister of state for home in Gujarat.

It has become clear that due to the fear of facing a rout in the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress party has decided to buy peace with the BJP by not having appointed a judge to head this commission since last four months.

Despite tall claims and long statements by its senior leaders and several union ministers, the Congress has betrayed the citizens of the country who believe in democratic values and respect human rights of individuals.

The AAP challenges the Congress to answer the following questions, if it has nothing to hide :

1) Why did the Congress-led UPA government shy away from appointing a judge to head the inquiry commission to probe the illegal snooping of a young woman by the Modi government of Gujarat in 2009 ?

2) Is it not a fact that the Congress managers struck a deal with the BJP for abandoning the probe against Narendra Modi and Amit Shah in return of the BJP promise of allowing a smooth session for passing the vote on account in February ?

3) Will the Congress admit that the deal with the BJP included a promise not to go beyond mere public statements on serious allegations against leaders of both parties and their relatives ?

4) Has the Congress abandoned the Right to Privacy of the country’s citizens ?

5) What is the difference between the Congress and the BJP on issues such as illegal snooping, surveillance and misuse of official machinery to keep the citizens under fear ?

The AAP will expose the deal between the BJP and the Congress, which has led to the country not knowing the truth behind one of the worst incidents of a state government having tried to misuse its machinery to illegally spy on its own people for unexplainable reasons.
