President and CEO, Samsung Southwest Asia, HC Hong launched both the smartphones S9 and S9+ in India today in National Capital. Both models came in two storage capacity 64 GB and 256 GB with a price between Rs 57,900 to Rs 72,900.
Samsung Electronics launched Galaxy S9 and S9+ with the world’s best camera featuring a Dual Aperture lens, Super Slow-mo capability. AR Emojis (that look like you), and stereo speakers tuned by AKG with Dolby Atmos.
While launching President and CEO, Samsung Southwest Asia, HC Hong said that Galaxy S9 and S9+ are made for today’s age where communication and expression is increasingly happening through images, videos and emojis.
“India has one of the highest number of social media users and is one of the biggest 4G data markets and one of the fastest growing cashless economy in the world. With Galaxy S9 and S9+, we have reimagined the smartphone for today’s and tomorrow’s India, so that you can ‘Do what you can’t. ” he said.
“Galaxy S9 and S9+ herald the next level of innovation with Samsung’s advanced camera that has been redesigned with a new Dual Aperture lens that powers a super low light camera like no other smartphone, Super Slow-mo video capabilities at 960 fps and personalised AR Emoji that ensure users do not miss amoment and make their everyday epic.” Hong addded.
Available for purchase starting March 16, the phones will be offered in three colours – lilac purple, coral blue and midnight black. Samsung is offering a maximum cashback of Rs 6,000 on the purchase of the new devices. There is an additional Rs 6,000 cash back bonus in exchange for old Samsung smartphones.
With the Infinity Display at the front, the Galaxy S9 features a 5.8inch display whereas the larger S9+ will have a 6.2inch screen. Continuing to be water and dust resistant, buoth the devices are 8.5mm thin.
The fingerprint sensor is placed under the camera module at the rear and the devices also come with ‘Intelligent Scan’, a new verification system that uses the collective strength of iris scanning and facial recognition technology to quickly and conveniently unlock a user’s phone.
Senior Vice President, Mobile Business of Samsung India Asim Warsi said that camera reimagined Today’s cameras are for more than just clicking pictures they are for connecting and communicating.
