New Delhi: Hitting back to the BJP for rapping Congress chief Rahul Gandhi over weeklies report, Congress on Tuesday said that before attacking party president Rahul Gandhi, BJP should first ask his Finance Minister Arun Jaitely to clarify the statement which was given to weeklies on October 2005.
He said while addressing media on Tuesday at party office, “In October 2005, commenting in a story of Weeklies magazine, the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had said that BJP use Hindutva agenda for political gain and he also admitted that then Chief Minister of Gujarat Naredra Modi is a polarizing personality,” said party spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill while showing the copy of the report.
“BJP should first clear its backlogs then they should launch attack on Rahul Gandhi. At present, FM Jaitely is ill and under treatment, Congress party wishes him speedy recovery,” he added.
Replying to a question that BJP has been creating hue and cry over giving Congress ticket to Mehul Choksi’s advocate in Karnataka assembly, Jaiveer Shergill replied, “Being an advocate is not a crime. Nothing is wrong if he professionally represented Mehul Choksi in the court. If we refrain someone on this ground, then Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Sushma Swaraj’s husband and daughter defended Lalit Modi in IPL Scam. Moreover, BJP should also ask Arun Jaitley because he defended the company which is responsible for Bhopal Gas tragedy 1984 and Jaitley’s daughter also represented Nirav Modi’s company in the court.”
“Aimed to create controversy for political gain in Karnataka, BJP has been jumping on the wrong foot.”
Taking a jibe over the prevailing cash crunch in the country, spokesperson, Shergill said, “BJP and Modi’s supporter has taken away all the cash and run from this country that is why all the ATMs and Banks gone dry. Even after years of demonetization, the people are facing hardship and queuing outside the ATMs to withdraw their money, it is shameful”.
