DPMC Chief Sharmistha Mukherjee slams BJP and AAP over cutting of trees in Delhi!

New Delhi: The Congress have jumped onto the tree felling protest on attacking both the BJP led Centre and Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party government and triggering a verbal duel with the AAP.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi, in a tweet on Thursday, asked people to “stand with the Congress and together let’s fight this madness”.

In a similar vein, Ajay Maken, president of the Congress in Delhi, tweeted, “It’s a shame that both the AAP & the BJP have undone all the good work done by Sheila Dikshit led Congress Govt!”

On Friday Addressing the media, Delhi Pradesh Mahila Congress Chief, Sharmistha Mukherjee said, “Ever since the BJP came to power at the Centre and the AAP in Delhi, the green cover of Delhi has been fast depleting due to the reckless felling of trees, without any concern for the city’s environment.
It is surprising and shocking to see that GNCTD has not only approved the felling of trees around Mathura Road, but the Public Works Department has been recklessly cutting trees overnight.”

Sharmistha Mukherjee, while attacking the Modi government, also said that, “Now the central government is talking about re-thinking on the development project. But at that time when this project was passed why didn’t they gave a thought? Now Congress leaders will plant and distribute trees, so that they can understand the importance of trees. At the same time Youth Congress will come out on the streets and protest.”
