Burmans : Classics Forever, A Gala Musical Evening Pays Tribute to SD Burman and RD Burman!

New Delhi: A Gala musical Evening, titled, ‘Burmans: Classics Forever’ dedicated to the legendary Music Directors S. D. Burman & R. D. Burman
was organised on August 17, at India Islamic Cultural Centre in New Delhi. Organised by “Sur Tarang Musicals” and hosted by a group of music lovers, the evening saw singers from across Delhi and bringing back to life, the golden melodies of the Burmans, the legendary Music Composers.

The musical programme was Graced by the melodies from 28 singers. The singers rendered songs like,
Jis gali mein tera ghar na, Piya tose naina laghe, Kuch na kaho, Piya to ab to aaja, Mainchali main chali, lekar hum deewana dil, Haye rey haye tera gungta and many other beautiful melodies.

The cherry on the cake was music accompaniment done by the topmost musicians from the city. A fetting tribute was paid to legendary music composers of Hindi cinema

Speaking to Ten News on the occasion,
Talented and Passionate Singer,

Prasanjeet Mukherjee said, “Well i would like to say that this particular programme is conceived as panchams and sachin da’s classical songs and this is from the group Sur tarang. It’s a wonderful concept what we have taken and you can see the number of bands which are playing, it’s a nine piece band which is actually pancham da used to play. We have kept everything here so you can get the actual effects of the song.”

Talking about his fondest memories of R. D. Burman, Mukherjee said,

“From childhood days i’m listening to pancham songs. Being a bengali, one fond memory I see in that pancham da creating music in bengali and hindi. There are many songs which you will find, he can sing one antra of hindi and one antra of bengali and using the rhythm section. I’m myself a drummer so i know what rhythm plays. So he used the rhythm section excellently. ”
