Modi wave upsets Didi’s plans for Delhi

It wasn’t just the Delhi BJP or AAP that had high hopes from this election, Mamata Banerjee’s All-India Trinamool Congress, too, expected a lot out of it. The Modi wave dashed all hopes.

TMC, which fought in Delhi for the first time, fielded candidates on five seats -Chandni Chowk, New Delhi, East Delhi, North East Delhi and South Delhi. However, among them, they only polled 9,906 votes. Bollywood star of the 1960s, Biswajit Chatterjee, and social activist Sreerupa Mitra Chaudhury were the Trinamool faces in New Delhi and South Delhi respectively; but while Biswajit secured only 909 votes, Chaudhury got just 803.
