New Delhi:(25/02/2019) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today will be dedicating the National War Memorial to the nation in a solemn ceremonial function. He will also address ex-servicemen on the occasion.
The National War Memorial will be dedicated to the Armed Forces by the Prime Minister of India on behalf of the Nation. The Memorial symbolises the victory and valour of our gallant heroes in safeguarding the honour of our country.
The National War Memorial complex includes a central obelisk, an eternal flame, and six bronze murals depicting famous battles fought by Indian Army, Air Force and Navy. The design of the National War Memorial has a layout comprising four concentric circles, namely, the ‘Amar Chakra’ or Circle of Immortality, the ‘Veerta Chakra’ or Circle of Bravery, the ‘Tyag Chakra’ or Circle of Sacrifice, and the ‘Rakshak Chakra’ or Circle of Protection.
The National War Memorial complex has been made in harmony with the existing layout and symmetry of the majestic Rajpath and Central Vista while maintaining landscaping & simplicity of architecture, exemplifying supreme sacrifice made by soldiers that make their spirits eternal.
