Massive setback for Modi Govt, SC dismisses centre’s plea on Rafale Deal

New Delhi: Big setback for the Modi govt in Rafale Deal as Supreme Court has ruled that documents admissible in the court. Supreme Court’s t 3 Judge bench today unanimously rejected Centre’s objections, rules classified "stolen" documents on Rafale Deal admissible, clears decks to hear review pleas. Supreme Court agreed to hear the review petitions against the Rafale verdict on merits, dismissing preliminary objections raised by the centre.

SC decision to hear review petition in Rafale Deal case gives Modi govt opportunity to prove integrity on merits of the case. Earlier, Govt had claimed that privileged documents submitted by petitioners were procured illegally.

The top court said review petitions against its December 14 verdict dismissing all petitions against procurement of Rafale jets will be decided on merits.

Reacting to the verdict, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said,

"Modiji, you can run and lie as much as you want, But sooner or later the truth comes out. SC has upheld a time honoured legal principle. A rattled Modiji had threatened to invoke Official Secrets Act against independent Journalists for exposing his corruption on Rafale."

He further said, "Don’t worry Modiji, an investigation is going to take place now, whether you like it or not The skeletons in Rafale Scam are tumbling out one by one. And now there is ‘no official secrets act’ to hide behind."
