Delhi, 02/10/19: President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat on his 150th birth anniversary

Congress president Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, BJP veteran L K Advani, Union ministers Piyush Goyal and Hardeep Singh Puri, and BJP working president J P Nadda were among those who paid floral tributes to the father of the nation.



On the other hand, Punjab’s CM Amarinder Singh committed to follow Bapu’s ‘wipe every tear from every eye’ pledge, while Pakistan’s Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry called him a “great leader of the subcontinent”.

Major events have been planned across India to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting Rajghat and then flying off to Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad later in the evening. He will also declare the country open defecation-free. On the other hand, BJP president Amit Shah is set to flag off the party’s nationwide “Gandhi Sankalp Yatra”
