Haryana could be cliffhanger with no clear majority for BJP and Congress in Assembly Elections
This time in Haryana, the Congress surprised itself as it seemed to have pulled off an unexpected double-figure tally in the BJP-ruled state. The counting of votes threw up the possibility of a fractured verdict, leaving the party in with a chance of coming to power with support from Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janata Party (JJP).
Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala has conceded defeat from Kaithal assembly seat. Randeep Singh Surjewala lost from Kaithal by nearly 530 votes to BJP’s Leela Ram.
Randeep Singh Surjewala is a two-time MLA from Kaithal. He won the assembly elections in 2014 and 2009 from Kaithal.
In a media interaction today, Randeep Singh Surjewala said he accepts the decision of the people of Kaithal "with humility".
On the other hand in Maharashtra, the BJP seems to be forming a coalition government in the Assembly elections. At the same time, Congress-NCP alliance could not perform well this time. This time with both big alliances, Prakash Ambedkar’s party was on Bahujan Aghadi, whose strategy seems to be failing in the assembly elections.
The party which played an important role in many seats in Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha elections, it is only one of its 274 candidates who are leading and it may change even till the results are out.
The names of all the winners from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will be declared when the counting of the votes is over. The 288 assembly constituencies of Maharashtra went to polls on October 21 and the result will be announced today.
As counting of votes continues, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance looks set to return to power in Maharashtra, while Haryana could be a cliffhanger with no clear majority for either the BJP or the Congress.
