PM Modi, President Kovind Pay Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 72nd Death Anniversary

New Delhi (30/01/2020): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat and chiefs of all three military forces paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his 72nd death anniversary Thursday.

A gun salute was given at the memorial where school students and people gathered to pay their respects.

Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse in 1948, which also marks one of the five Martyrs Day India observes.

“A tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. The ideals of Bapu will continue to inspire us to build a strong, capable and prosperous New India,” PM Modi tweeted.
